Snow for Real!

I felt lucky with the weather this winter, especially when DC area was hit by the historical snow storms........ till this weekend when we got the real snow, real Rochester-like snow.

Friday morning:

Friday Evening, the sun actually peeked out for a few minutes:

Our lovely neighbor came with his snow blower to our driveway on Friday morning when I was thinking how to deal with the thick snow while Hubby was in agony with his shoulder. Saturday Morning, even more snow dumped on our driveway and he came again to help. We are so lucky to have such kind neighbor.

Snow Angels

Last Sunday, we had a good layer of snow on the ground. It was too fluffy to make snow man, however, it was perfect to make snow angels. After a short walk in the sub-freezing temperature with Audrey, we came back to our backyard to make snow angels. Audrey enjoys doing it after she learned making it from other older kids at Miss Jen's.

She laid down beside me and we made a mama and a baby snow angels.

I wanted to take more pictures of her playing with the snow, but guess what, she refused to let any of her pictures taken. So we had this paparazzi and celebrity scene. It was hilarious!

Take a look at our snow coated backyard if you are lucky or unlucky to experience snow.

Niagara Falls Trip on a Cold Day!

Parents-in-law came to town to spend the Thanksgiving holiday with us. On the day they were heading back to IL, we took them to the Niagara Falls in Buffalo. It was a cold day. On the way there, we had heavy rain. I was sort of worried. Fortunately, it cleared up and the sun peeked out for a few seconds when we got there.

A nice couple helped us to take this picture on the lunar island, facing the Canadian side of the Falls.

2009 Veggie Gardening-Getting Real Leaves

Seedling seemed to be rather successful. Now those small plants are getting their first leaves. Hubby has been taking very good care of them, providing them with timely artificial sun light and just enough drinks every day. Three weeks has passed, they live very good lives now, especially the tomato plants, eggplants are still tiny, though.

Unique Easter Decor-2009

We have a neighbor who loves every accountable holidays. Their house and yard are decorated DRASTICALLY for each holiday. We pass their house every day, so that we developed a habit of wondering when the decoration for the next holiday comes out as soon as the current holiday passes by.

Easter was round the corner, but we still did not see any decoration coming out until last Thursday afternoon. We came home from work, suddenly, our eyes were caught by the bright colors in the distance. When we got close, so many gigantic Easter Eggs dotted on their lawn. After dinner, I decided to take some pictures of them. They are really beautiful! I think I need to share them with everyone on my blog.

Crocus in April Snow

I hardly believed my eyes this morning when I saw the white outdoor scene. It snowed in April. I immediately thought about our flowers in the yard, crocus, tulips and daffodils. Hope they will survive the untimely harsh Spring snow.

PaPa's Flying Pig

My hubby started the flying game with our daughter from very early ago on, say when she was only 5 or 6 months old. Our daughter was born int the year of pig, so Hubby calls her "Fei Zhu" in Chinese, flying pig in English. For a while, I really thought he called our daughter "Fat Pig", also "Fei Zhu" in Chinese. One day, he explained to the nanny and I realized that I misunderstood him. Anyway, the flying game is one of our daughter's favorite games.

Crocus: Spring is here

After we moved into this house in 2007 Fall, I planted those crocus bulbs in the front lawn just a couple weeks before our daughter was born. That was about a year and a half ago. Last year, they brought us pretty flowers with intense colors in early April. I loved them at once.

Just a few weeks ago, we suddenly saw those tiny leaves shooting out of the ground with strength. Yesterday, they bloomed, which excited me very much.

Today, they bloom even more. I especially like this stripped purple one.
